The first single from their upcoming album, Centipede Hz, hits harder than anything the band has released in almost a decade. The track is mixed loud and, unlike their last couple albums, features live drums and punchy guitars. They haven’t abandoned samples, however. Distorted percussive sounds and a a repetitive synth track continue for most of the song. Avey Tare yell/sings for most of the track until Panda Bear contributes wordless backup vocals at around the 3 minute mark. The song has a weird intro and outro, but overall I have to say that this is pretty cool stuff. I don’t think I’ve really heard a song quite like this before. Check it out.
