Ty Segall: Femme Fatale (Velvet Underground Cover)
Ty Segall refuses to stop releasing music this year. Following the quality Slaughterhouse and Twins albums, as well as the collaborative album Hair, he’s also covering the Velvets for an upcoming compilation celebrating the famous New York art-rockers. The take on Femme Fatale here is pretty unrecognizable minus the lyrics, but distancing this take from the original is a smart move. No one’s gonna out Velvet the Velvets, so instead of trying Segall presents a super-saturated rocking punk take on the song and the end result is more representative of Segall than the VU. It wouldn’t sound horribly out of place on White Light/White Heat however…
